A local manufacturer has kicked off a multi-million dollar expansion project and will be moving to Miamisburg.
West Carrollton-based Silver Tool Inc. recently broke ground on a new 30,000-square-foot facility on Crosspointe Drive, which is expected to be complete before the end of the year, said Ed McCloskey, founder and vice president of the company. Currently, Silver Tool is in 17,000 square feet across two buildings on Fame Road.
McCloskey told me on Thursday the new facility, along with the costs to move and some new equipment, will be as much as a $3 million investment. Silver Tool -- which provides machining services to a wide range of industries, including as aerospace and medical --needs the extra space because it has seen such a strong demand from current and prospective customers, he said.
The company has 47 employees, almost double the number from five years ago, and McCloskey expects to reach 70 workers in the news few years.
"We're busting at the seams right now," McCloskey said. "We've had to turn down work."
Construction Managers of Ohio will be building the facility in SouthPointe Business Park, which is home to several other companies that have recently expanded, such as Think Patented.
McCloskey, who started the company in 1984, said he's now acting as vice president and running the company with his son, James, who is president.View Original Article
